Registrations must be received by last date listed here for each session in order to start the first day of the session.
A to Z University (grades K-5)
A to Z University is our after school program for students in grades K-5. A to Z University provides a safe and nurturing environment where students can enhance their academic skills. Enrichment activities give students opportunities to reinforce classroom learning and overcome gaps in school day learning. Program dates and times are listed below. The program is closed when schools are closed.
A to Z University provides a safe and nurturing environment where students academic skills are enhanced. Homework help, tutoring, and classes on study skills and organization help students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their highest academic potential. In addition, students are given opportunities to delve more deeply into topics touched upon during the school day through activities that enrich and reinforce classroom learning, and help overcome gaps between school day and after school experiences.
A to Z University creates a "college campus" at each site in which students are grouped by grade level as "freshmen," "sophomores," "juniors" and "seniors." Courses are themed around the letters of the alphabet. University courses are themed around the letters of the alphabet.
All of our University courses and activities focus on Reading, Written Communication, and Math Problem Solving. The Malden Public School district has determined that our students need the most help in these academic areas, and given our intent to support the school day, we have selected these as our focus.
Program Registration: A to Z University is a fee-based program. Students are required to register for a minimum of two days per week, and must register for each entire session. Registration in the middle of a session must be down at PCSM, 238 Highland Avenue.
We will offer three University session this year:

Session 1 - September 12 to November 22 (closed Nov. 15)

Session 2 - November 28 to March 9 (closed Jan. 18)

Session 3 - March 12 to June 13 * (closed April 26)

Schedule: A to Z University runs from 2:30 to 5:30 pm at the Beebe, Forestdale, and Linden Schools; and 3:30 to 6:00 pm at the Salemwood School. Children may be picked up at 4:15 pm or 5:30 pm at the Beebe, Forestdale, and Linden, while children may be picked up between 5:30 and 6:00 pm at the Salemwood School.
PCSM Staff Trainings: An important part of providing a quality program for your child is making sure our staff are properly training. As such, we will have staff meetings throughout the year. We will close the program three days during the school year. Children must be picked up at the close of school on the following days:

Financial Aid: Financial aid is available to families that request it and meet qualifications. Financial aid is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Families requesting financial aid are required to submit a COPY for our files of their 2010 1040 tax return for qualification. The financial aid guidelines may be found on the forms page.
Early Release: On Early Release days, PCSM will have early release care available to those who have already registered for our programs. The cost is $10.00 per child per each early release day. Please talk to your school's site coordinator for more information.
